New Milton Lions Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration


Friday 3rd June : 12:00 Noon until 7:00 p.m.

Saturday 4th June : 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. (No Live Entertainment)

New Milton Lions Club Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration on Friday 3rd June will be a FREE fun event for all of the family, from 0 - 110 (in fact no age will be unwelcome!) and we hope that we can satisfy all tastes so that you can kick of this long Bank Holiday Weekend in a very enjoyable and relaxing way on New Milton's Recreation Ground.

You will be welcome to visit the event as many times as you want during the afternoon and evening with no restrictions or costs.

There will be a smaller event with no live entertainment or Arena activities on Saturday 4th June

This event is being held 70 years since the date of her Majesty's Accession to the Throne on the 6th February 1952.

  • The main event field will be laid out with a very long table and chairs, to provide a 'Street Party' style atmosphere for you to enjoy your food or to listen to the entertainment
  • If you are able to bring any folding chairs to use this will assist the organisers and there will be a stall which will be manned throughout the event where you can safely leave your chairs, when you just want to wander around the event.
  • You are welcome to bring your own picnic which you can enjoy sitting at the Street Party Table or sitting on the field (please bring your own ground sheet) or you can enjoy food from a variety of Street Food vendors who will be located close to the Main Arena. 
  • There will be a wide range of Stalls offering teas and coffees and a wide range of soft and alcoholic drinks.


  • There will be the opportunity to take a stall on the Recreation Ground
    • Community Groups from In and Around New Milton
    • Stalls either Charity based or Commercial
      • Arts, Crafts and Gifts
      • Food & Drink
      • Products & Services
  • Please complete the Application Form for any type of Stall at the Jubilee celebration.
  • Whether you decide to take a Stall on the 3rd June at The Recreation Ground or not, we can offer a second date - Saturday 4th June, which will be a smaller but still interesting series of attractions in which you might be interested, please complete the form here. 


  • A full programme of Music and other Acts is currently being prepared for the Main Stage at the event for between 12:00 Noon and 9:30 p.m.
  • There will also be a limited opportunity for local individuals or groups (amateurs, full or part-time performers) to perform on the stage during this time and you are asked to make contact urgently with the Organisers, so that you can be included in the Programme. 


  • There will be a number of displays in the adjacent New Milton Memorial Centre.
    • The impact of the Second World War on New Milton (Should have originally been displayed at the VE, VJ and Victory Day events all of which fell victim to the pandemic.
    • The India Soldiers Memorial Obelisk at Barton - background information
    • The New Milton Library is currently planning a topical display on literary connections with our town.


  • Children's Rides are all chargeable


  • There will be a very short but meaningful Ceremony to celebrate her Majesty's magnificent reign for over 70 years with the Lighting of a Ceremonial Beacon.

Other Activities in New Milton


  • New Milton Window Dressing Competition : Retail and other outlets and businesses who have a shop-front within the main shopping areas of New Milton (including Old Milton Road, Fernhill Lane and Gore Road) are invited to dress their Windows to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.  The judging will be made after the Main Jubilee event on 3rd June and there will also be an opportunity for the Public to vote on their favourites.  For more information and to confirm participation please email joanna.hayward@newmiltontowncouncil.gov.uk


  • Civic Service : There will be a Civic Service to commemorate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee at St Mary Magdalene Parish Church on Sunday 29th May at 4:00 p.m.  The Mayor of New Milton Cllr. Keith Craze cordially invites all residents to attend this Service.


  • New Forest Big Band - The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Jazz Concert



  • New Milton Conservative Club :  The Queen's Platinum Jubilee - there are a variety of activities to choose from including a talk by Alan Saunders a former member of the Yeoman of the Guard, who served as a bodyguard from 2002 until 2018.   (Updated)


  • The Royal Memorabilia Exhibition An exhibition being laid on by members of The New Milton Baptist Church.

  • The Queen's Platinum Jubilee - Street Parties :  To celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, there will be a special Four-Day Bank Holiday Weekend from Thursday 2 June until Sunday 5 June 2022. The four-day celebrations will feature special events in cities and communities across the country, and New Forest District Council are keen to Help Communities In The New Forest To Celebrate This Event by encouraging local small-scale celebrations such as street parties and smaller community events. Ideally Street Parties should be held on Sunday 5th July and of course New Milton's Big Event Is On Friday 3rd June.
